Kangna Successfully Completes Community Development Programme (CDP) Internship with Ek Mauka Ek Umeed (NGO)

Ek Mauka Ek Umeed (NGO) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Community Development Programme (CDP) / Social Internship by Ms. Kangna, a student of B.Sc. (Hons.) in Food Technology at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Punjab.

Ms. Kangna, D/o Mr. Sushil Kumar, bearing University ID 12515627, undertook the internship from 01 August 2026 to 16 August 2026. She successfully completed 5 field activity days comprising a total of 30 hours of supervised community engagement under the guidance of Prof. Jasbir Singh, Director cum Secretary, Ek Mauka Ek Umeed (NGO).

Community-Based Learning and Field Activities

The internship was designed to provide meaningful exposure to rural communities and enable the student to understand development issues through direct observation, interaction and participation.

During the programme, Ms. Kangna successfully undertook the following five major activities:

1. Study of Maize Cultivation in Village

She interacted with the rural farming environment and studied maize cultivation practices, soil preparation, sowing methods, agricultural inputs, pest management and crop care. The activity provided practical exposure to the opportunities and challenges associated with rural agriculture.

2. Poultry Farm Visit

During the poultry farm visit, she studied poultry management, breeds, feeding practices, vaccination, disease prevention and income-generation opportunities. The activity helped her understand the importance of poultry farming as a source of rural livelihood.

3. Street Vendor Visit and Interaction

Ms. Kangna interacted with local street vendors to understand their daily livelihood, income patterns, operational challenges and awareness of government support programmes. The interaction provided valuable insight into small-scale entrepreneurship and the informal rural economy.

♻️ 4. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

As part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, she participated in community cleanliness and awareness activities focusing on hygiene, sanitation, waste management and responsible community participation.

5. Understanding Government Welfare Schemes at Anganwadi Centre

The activity focused on understanding the role of the Anganwadi Centre and various government welfare initiatives related to health, nutrition, preschool education, women empowerment and child development.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The internship provided Ms. Kangna with an opportunity to connect academic learning with real-world community issues. Her field experiences helped strengthen important skills such as communication, observation, documentation, teamwork, problem-solving and social responsibility.

Her sincere participation also helped her develop a better understanding of the relationship between agriculture, livelihoods, health, sanitation, nutrition and sustainable rural development.

Ek Mauka Ek Umeed (NGO) works in the fields of Health, Poverty Alleviation, Education, Environment and Development, while striving to contribute towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
